Woman tells deputy crack cocaine was her payment for giving a man a lift

FORT WALTON BEACH — A woman who said she was not involved with drugs was arrested after deputies found crack cocaine in her vehicle.
Mila A. Birkestrand, 47, was stopped just before 1:30 a.m. for speeding in an area well-known by law enforcement for narcotic sales, according to an Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office report.
After stopping, Birkestrand talked with one of the deputies about how the area was know for illegal drugs, and said she wasn’t involved. To prove it, she offered, without prompting, to let the deputies search her vehicle.
During the search, they found a piece of crack cocaine on the driver’s side floorboard.
After she was arrested, Birkestrand said she got the cocaine from a man she gave a ride to in the Sylvania Heights area.
“She believed the crack cocaine to be payment for providing transportation to the male,” the report stated.

  3. What an idiot. Why would you let the cops search your car if you know you have drugs in it?
